To James Ranch Directions: From Little Rock – Take north 167 to Hoxie, take hiway 67 to Pocahontas. After crossing the Black River in Pocahontas, take hiway 62 out of town to Hoelscher lane. Down Hoelscher about 3 miles, take a left on Old Ferry Lane and follow it to the Eleven Point River. From Fayetteville – Take I-540S to I-40. Take I-40 East to Little Rock. Down Hoelscher about 3 miles, take a left on Old Ferry Lane and follow it to the Eleven Point River. From Memphis – Take hiway 63 W to Pocahontas, take hiway 62 out of town to Hoelscher lane. Down Hoelscher about 3 miles, take a left on Old Ferry Lane and follow it to the Eleven Point River. From Jonesboro – Take hiway 63 W to Pocahontas, take hiway 62 out of town to Hoelscher lane. Down Hoelscher about 3 miles, take a left on Old Ferry Lane and follow it to the Eleven Point River. We do mostly lower Eleven Point. Riverton--in Missouri to Myrtle ending at a music show at Woody's Camp and Canoe. June 17 is Dalton to James Ranch, just past hiway 90 bridge on your map, ending at a music show.. Also hiway 90 or James Ranch to Birdell (hiway 62.) My nephew Garret and his friends are super cool, they do a three or four day trip starting in the Mark twain National Forest up near Thomasville, Mo. The skill level need is lower, as instead of waterfalls, the Eleven Point tends to slide over soft gravel shoals. There are some maneuvers around log jams, etc, but the lower is generally an easy float. HERE is a decent map of the area.
Woody King has recently passed away. He was honored posthumously by the Arkansas Stream Teams for his work helping keep the Eleven Point free of glass bottles.
