Jill. This little woman was my constant river companion in the first years of this century. And there is Geezer2!

Take advantage of natural ice2 stretch your reserves

Now featuring three day nature sojourns. Private wilderness camping. Guided canoe trips, three extraordinary resource waterways in three days. Music? Food? Firewood supplied.

Spring River is important to me. I grew up in the late sixties and early seventies summering at Many Islands. My family loved Spring River like few other local Hardy Arkansas people. In fact, nineteen sixty-nine or thereabouts my dad's license plate was the only one in all of Many Islands not Shelby County Tennessee (Memphis). Nighttime wading adventures were exciting. Glass bottles were just becoming a problem. Now lessened by laws banning glass containers, the practice of bringing glass beverage containers persists (bad grammar?).

My dog  Geezer has been canoeing something like 500 times. He's a little black Peeka-hua-hua(adorable) When I use Many Islands or Spring River Oaks he has to stay home.(RIP little buddy)

Spring River is very busy. I can show a group how to slip easily through chaotic peak days, how to use gravel bars and quiet stretches for optimum fun time. I can show a group how to prepare, operate, and enjoy canoes.

My hints and guidance will often be the difference between a canoe trip that leaves you unfulfilled, and something special, that challenges and empties you, that ends Just right. Tailoring a trip for a group, or adapting moment to moment is a matter of simple methods concerning waterproofing certain items, securing potential litter, and paddling techniques.

.   On peak days Spring River resembles Mardi Gras, navigating parties and potential hazards with a guide is unexplainably smoother. A thick skin and calm disposition are needed on these crowded Saturdays. South Fork is often deep nature as is Eleven Point and Strawberry. I like to milk the last rays of sunlight. Sometimes I play a jam box with some Tesla. Under the bridge is incredible. High falls has a Jacuzzi hole. Except for the major Saturdays from memorial day to labor day, floaters are primarily alone or spaced out enough to enjoy solitude or entreaty fellow floaters as whim may dictate.

I live in Highland Arkansas now, I believe it to be a rare town as three different extraordinary water ways flow within (estimation) five miles. I have mountain bike tours to canoe put ins, music shows at the destination. Golfers could play a round on the Cherokee Village North Course and put in canoes one hundred yards from the driving range. No glass bottles. I may do some hiking tours in The Harold Alexander Wildlife area, I call it the Alexander Conquest. I may do the warm fork in Thayer, or the Current River near Pocahontas. Old timers know it as Mercy Beach. I do archeology sojourns, pointing out what I feel to be artifacts of ancient americans(I found a kokapelli). I want to do tree and fauna Identification tours. I think upstream challenges could revolutionize and economize our consumption of gas, especially in tandem with mountain bikers. I want to play sports before and after canoe trips. I want to catch fish. I want to rock. Because when I rock I truly am.

Here is where Spring River spills from the actual spring, one of the largest in the world. It's a trip to take a canoe right into the teeth of this waterfall and feel the spray. I don't recommend it for a first date, though, as it can freak some chicks out.
